There is a better procedure. 1. Set up the tripod as shown here, with a slightly wider stance and longer legs, head roughly level as explained in video (in the video the rug isn't big enough to allow that). 2. Check that you are over the point with your plumb bob (not your eyeball) and shift a leg or two if the bob says you are more than an inch or so off (an inch or so is plenty good enough). 3. Stab in all three legs the same amount. 4. Attach the instrument to the tripod. 5. Level the instrument with the circular bubble, using two screws in opposite directions, then only the third screw. 6. Now (and not before!) loosen the tripod securing screw and use the optical plummet (or laser dot) to slide the instrument across the head of the tripod until it is perfectly over the point. 7. Further level the instrument using the longer and more sensitive bubble, and repeat step 6 if you are not dead on. I can set up in sixty seconds using this method, because I understand that the optical plummet (or laser) doesn't point straight down until the instrument is level. Remember, these instrument tripods have a wide head and a large central hole for a reason. It is so that the final centering can be done by sliding the instrument on the tripod head. Don't waste time fiddling with the laser or optical plummet until the instrument is level. These days everyone uses the laser or plummet before leveling, and setups often take five minutes or more. There is nothing wrong with having the instrument end up not dead center of the tripod.

The surveyor with the Level at 0:25 minutes didn’t work for the private company depicted in this video. He was a Survey Crew Chief as was I at Ground Zero for the Dept. of Design & Construction, City of NY. DDC did most of the monitoring on site. DDC along with NYC OEM managed Ground Zero. We did have private contractors helping out during some day/night shifts.

Can I stack these two or three high? How much of a setback do I need for each level?

Because I'm older and have worked in construction my entire life I can't hear the frequency Topcon uses. I think anyone with high frequency hearing loss will have the same problem. I'm surprised Topcon hasn't thought of this. I've called the company but they didn't seem to care. I watched the video to see if I could hear this model but didn't hear anything

Is there anything that can be done to increase the intensity of the horizontal line? The batteries are brand new but it is barely visible in bright conditions. The vertical lines and dots are nice and bright.

typical (indoor) laser levels shoot out a horizontal line without spinning.. so wondering why these spin? My #1 guess would be that the receiver detects the 'pulse'.. #2 accuracy #3 health and safety regarding laser/eyes.. but anyone pls lmk. ty!

This remote is absolutely horrible. Apparently someone really liked their Nintendo Wii or spends their time behind a desk not using the things they create and we suffer with. Whatever mechanism used to detect motion can’t have been cheaper than two buttons that would do the same more intuitively.

We have some problems like changing height. Could u give some advice or instructions how to memorize the calibration. We did all instructions but there is still a problem. X and Y axis aren't suitable each other. Measurement of Each side has a difference. We use Slope key but it doesn't work sufficiently. REally the "square foot" is your favorite" ?! Even the simplest laser measuring device has the square footage capability. The x4 offers features that are way more "favoritable" than the square footage.
